The King’s Coronation Tray Bake

We know the King’s Coronation was last year, but this recipe from The Bottled Baking Co was still great to make (and while the dry ingredients were past their ‘best by’ date they were still useable!) The finished cake is just scrummy! Lots of very sticky fun to make! We had a wonderful time making this irresistible tasty tray bake!

We had lots of different types of ingredients to put in the mixing bowl, it took a while to get everything together, but then James very carefully mixed the dry ingredients, and then we added the soft melted butter, before James added the vegetable oil, milk, and eggs, himself. James then gave everything a really thorough stir, making sure there were no dry bits, creating a lovely sticky cake batter, before we worked together to gently pour it into the lined baking tray.

James came out to the kitchen to supervise the baking tray going into the oven, which was Dad’s job as the oven is ‘Hot! Hot! Hot!’ James found the kitchen a bit noisy. It seemed an eternity to wait the 30 minutes for the cake to bake, and even longer for it to cool so we could decorate it with icing sugar! We’ve not done much icing before, and haven’t got the hang of it yet, so we ended up with a a ‘glazed effect’! Yum!!
