Fun with Colin the Caterpillar Brownie Mix

James made one of his Christmas presents for his baking adventure today, a Marks & Spencer’s ‘Colin the Caterpillar’ chocolate brownie mix! This bottle bake mix was lots of fun to make and very crummy to eat!

First of all, James carefully poured all the ingredients in the bottle into a mixing bowl. He was fascinated to see little chocolate chips and white chocolate faces going in! He then gave everything a stir.

James then added the melted butter and the eggs, making sure that all of these important ingredients made it into the mixing bowl.

Lots of gooey fun then as we mixed all of the ingredients together in the bowl, before pouring the mix into the lined baking tray.

James then sent Dad out to the kitchen with the baking tray to put it in the oven, which was a Dad job anyway as the oven is ‘Hot! Hot! Hot!’, preferring to direct operations from the sofa.

We then had the hard job of waiting for about 25 minutes until the brownies were ready to take out of the oven to cool on the wire rack!

Once they had cooled, we could cut the brownie slab into brownie pieces ready to eat! Another bowl for James to lick clean and lots of chocolatey mixture to get on his t-shirt!

Marks & Spencer Colin the Caterpillar Brownie Mix Instructions

You will need:

M&S Colin the Caterpillar Brownie Mix
4 Medium Eggs or 3 Large Eggs
150g soft butter
A 20cm baking tray (lined)

Method:

Preheat oven to Fan 170, Conventional 190, Gas 5.

Line the baking tray with greaseproof paper

Add all the ingredients from the bottle into the mixing bowl

Pour the melted butter and eggs into the mixing bowl and mix until smooth

Pour and spoon the mixture into the lined baking tray and spread evenly

Bake in the centre of the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes if you like them gooey, or 30 minutes if you like them more cake like.

Remove from the oven, leave to cool in the tray for 10 minutes, before transferring the cakes to a wire cooling rack.

These brownies were lots of gooey fun to make, with the different stages all giving us plenty of sticky things to do! Lots of chocolatey things for James to lick clean as well! Yummy!
